Hua Jai Sila - Revenge will take you nowhere!!!

Hua Jai Sila is a 2019 Thai drama also known as the 'Man of Vengeance' and 'The stone of Heart', starring Tor Thanapob Leeluttanakajorn as P'Tor aka Sila and Fern Nopjira Lerkkajornnamkul as Mingta, the main leads of the drama. There happens to be a 2007 version of the drama as well with the same name and plot but when it comes to popularity the 2019 version is well known and appreciated amongst the audience. The story revolves around the life of the character Tor who is an illegitimate child of a rich businessman and whose mother dies of neglect and he is forced to stay along with his step mother and step brother Sawit. A young Tor was tortured daily by his step mother and step brother, who eventually finds a friend in the next door girl Mingta who faces a similar scenario in her house by her mother and elder sister. Tor and Mingta become each other's companions in the world full of cruelties, where Tor had decided to protect and care for Mingta always.

But on an unfortunate night everything changes when Tor was being chased by his step mother and he jumps into the river to save himself and is presumed dead but he was saved by another prostitute and a friend of Tor's dead mother Pin Suda or Mam. She takes him under her wings and he grows up to be one among the upper class rich people of Thai with a new name Sila meaning stone. Tor alias Sila has grown up to be handsome young man with loads of money and everything at his hand's reach but he is still not content and wishes to take revenge on his step mother and step brother also on Mingta's elder sister for torturing him and Mingta when they were young, for treating them as underground dogs because they were illegitimate children of their fathers. Even though Sila never agrees to the fact that he wants to take revenge on Mingta's elder sister Kwan for her sake but when you watch the drama you will understand that she is one of the reasons why he is back and seeks for revenge from everyone who hurt him as a child.

Although Tor never expected to meet Mingta and get involved with her but it all fails when she recognizes him as her P'Tor, her childhood friend who was supposedly dead because of a ring that he wears around his neck: his mother's ring. And not only that Mingta always stood as an obstacle who never agreed to whatever he did. She was always against the idea of getting revenge and told Tor that why was he so blinded by the idea of getting revenge on something that is already a past but instead he asks her that, 'Even you have lived a pretty much similar life with hate and neglect from your mother and sister so if given given a chance won't you take revenge on them for destroying and making your childhood painful?' And she says, "NO. I won't and I also hope that you don't because revenge won't take you anywhere and isn't it enough that you have a second chance at life, where you are the prince and have a loving Aunt who cares for you a lot. Is that not enough for you?" But for Tor all of these sounds meaningless because he is blinded by the power of destruction which leads him on the path of revenge.

"Revenge will take you nowhere. It will only cause destruction" is what his Aunt (Mam) and Mingta always try to tell him but he never listens and starts with his plan of destructing his father's family. And he pays no heed to any of theirs warnings and starts with courting Mingta's sister so that she can fall in love with him then he will use her and toss her away just like rich men do but not before he reveals the truth about himself that he was the same Tor from their whom she used to bully for being and illegitimate child. And while this plan of his was being put into action he also started meddling in his stepmother's business by using her beloved son Sawit as a pawn. He makes sure that Sawit becomes a beggar and loses all his money in gambling and when this happens he lures Sawit in coming to him for borrowing money which he will never be able to pay back.

He eventually buys shares of  his step mother's company and becomes a major share holder of the company thus throwing them out of their house, just like he was once. And one by one he is able to take revenge on everyone but in the process loses his Aunt Man when his step mother just for the sake of getting back at him sets his club on fire. But this incident also doesn't stop him from planning a revenge against his step mother and brother but he only stops when he almost lost his lady love Mingta. That makes him finally understand that revenge will only lead to destruction and nothing else, he will lose everything that even earned.

And now regarding what we can learn from this drama is that life is beautiful and one should not ruin it by taking revenges on people related to their past who won't matter to them in the future. Why destroy your life and lose someone or something close to you just because you wish to seek revenge for something that happened in the past. In the drama Tor was lucky to understand before it was not too late and he didn't lose Mingta in the fire of seeking revenge like he lost Aunt Mam. But we all might not be as lucky as him and that is why we should be careful of our actions and not go out seeking revenge and destroy our beautiful life. Also, one should be thankful of all the second, third and fourth chances they get in their life to live a life happily unlike Tor who doesn't appreciate the fact that he was lucky enough to survive the fall in river, to have a guardian like Aunt mam and for becoming one of the elites and escaping poverty and meeting his lady love and childhood best friend Mingta. Instead he chases the dream of seeking revenge from his step mother and brother which in turn breaks his beautiful life into pieces, he loses his Aunt and was also on the verge of losing Mingta. Thus, it is very important to appreciate the chances that we get in life instead of seeking revenge for things that is already past and is never going to return.
